Repaying your student loan is an important responsibility. To help you manage repayment, the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program (OGSLP) offers a number of resources and helpful information about your rights and responsibilities as a borrower and the repayment options that are available to you.
1. Develop a monthly budget. Repaying your student loan isn't optional. Your monthly loan payments are just as important as your rent or car payment.
2. Get organized. Maintain a filing system for your loan documents. It is important to read all of your loan-related corresondence.
3. Keep your loan holder informed. Contact your loan holder when you change your name, address or telephone number.
4. Keep a phone log. Document the date, customer representative and topic of each conversatoin with your loan holder.
5. Keep copies of correspondence. Make a copy of any forms for your records before mailing or faxing them to your loan holder.
