Higher Education Act Reauthorization Update
Both the Senate and House passed legislation to temporarily extend the programs under the Higher Education Act (HEA) for one month through April 30, 2008. The current extension expires March 31.

FFELP Lending Assured in Oklahoma
In response to recent media attention about the continuing credit market impacts on student loan availability, the Consumer Banker's Association (CBA) and others have taken steps at the national level to assure schools that FFELP funding will be available this fall. In an effort to reassure Oklahoma schools that FFELP funds will be available, the Oklahoma Lender Advisory Council (OLAC) prepared a news release for our local marketplace.

Private Student Loans - A Guide to Responsible Borrowing Brochure
To further educate students about the difference between federal and private loans, OGSLP has co-branded "Private Student Loans - A Guide to Responsible Borrowing," a brochure created by the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs (NCHELP). Focusing on three main themes - research carefully, remember your obligations, and repay as promised - the brochure encourages students to exhaust all grant, scholarship, and Title IV Loan eligibility before considering private or alternative education loans.

Making Work "Work": Resources for Busy Professionals
Boost Your Own Morale
If your job is starting to feel routine and your performance is uninspired, it's time to take matters into your own hands: motivate yourself! Start by creating a support group of peers from outside your organization, or even from outside your industry. Contact four to eight people you trust and know to be energetic, positive individuals. Make a commitment that what's said in your meetings stays in those meetings, then get together at least quarterly to share your aspirations, ideas, challenges, and (sometimes) pet peeves. You may be surprised to find how much you can learn from people outside your field and how many new ideas or solutions you can gain from peer networking!
