Stafford MPN and Deferment Forms Update
The current version of the Stafford Master Promissory Note (MPN) and the deferment forms have an expiration date of Friday, September 30, 2005. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved an emergency extension of the current forms. The MPN expiration date has been extended until December 31, 2005. And, the deferment forms have a new extended expiration date of February 28, 2006. OGSLP will keep you informed regarding the status of these important forms.

Extension of Higher Education Act (HEA)
Both the House and Senate approved an extension of the Higher Education Act that was originally set to expire on September 30, 2005. Legislation has extended programs under the Higher Education Act of 1965 through December 31, 2005. The House approved H.R. 3784 “Higher Education Extension Act of 2005” on September 20, 2005 and the Senate approved this bill on September 26, 2005. Click here to view H.R. 3784.
