NSLDS Calculation of Aggregate Loan Amounts
The Department of Education (ED) issued Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) GEN-03-12 that describes the new procedures used by NSLDS to calculate aggregate loan limits for the FFEL and Direct Loan programs when students have consolidated some or all of their student loans.

The Question & Answer document enclosed with the DCL provides additional guidance for schools to properly determine if an applicant for Title IV Federal student aid has exceeded, or is close to exceeding, one or more of the aggregate loan limits that apply to the FFEL and Direct Loan programs.

Browsers Supported by FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online
Effective January 1, 2004, the FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online sites will no longer be accessible using browser versions lower than version 5.0. This requirement affects both Internet Explorer and Netscape browser versions. ED is making this change in order to utilize the latest browser standards, which also benefit Web users with disabilities.

A list of supported browsers can be found in the Department of Education’s Electronic Announcement – November 10, 2003.
