Notices of Proposed Rulemakings Released: Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) have been released addressing issues presented by both Team I and Team II during Negotiated Rulemaking.
Common Manual e-Collection: Recently, OGSLP mailed clients the new edition of the Common Manual e-Collection which is on CD-ROM. The e-Collection includes the July 2002 Common Manual in addition to many other useful resources that can be easily accessed from one source.
Streamlined Disbursement Rules Expiration Update: OGSLP first advised clients in a spring newsletter of the potential expiration of the streamlined disbursement rules.These rules currently benefit schools with a cohort default rate of less than 10% for the three most recent fiscal years to be exempt from certain rules.
Cohort Default Rate Update: The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently announced that the FY 2000 Cohort Default Rates are scheduled to be sent to schools on September 9, 2002.
Correct Phone Number for Total and Permanent Disability Discharge Inquiries: The Department of Education (ED) has clarified the correct telephone number for borrowers to use if they need to check on the status of their loans that have been assigned to ED for the three-year conditional discharge period required for loan holder discharge determinations made on or after 7/1/02.
Common Manual Update Policy: The Common Manual Governing Board recently approved changes that modified policies contained in the July 2002 version of the Common Manual. These changes are identified in OGSLP's Common Manual Update (CM-66)
