People keep talking about the new "conditional disability" status, and you’re not quite sure you understand the changes. And, with everything else that’s been going on you didn’t make it to any of those OGSLP default prevention workshops people keep saying they enjoyed so much. Well if this sounds familiar, then we’ve got your solution. Register to attend OGSLP’s 4th annual School/Lender Conference on June 20th and cross all those items and more off your list! Common Supplemental Claim Form and Policies Implemented: Beginning July 1, 2002, lenders will be required to use the new Common Supplemental Claim form when submitting a request for increase in claim payment. There are no plans in the industry to develop electronic records for the "Supplemental Claim Form". Therefore, for many guarantors, including OGSLP, release of this form in July will precede their implementation of the actual CCI Claim form and the electronic version that is in the Common Account Maintenance (CAM) format. Also beginning July 1, 2002, OGSLP and the nation’s other guarantors will not accept any supplemental claim submitted for an amount less than $50. Negotiated Rulemaking Update: The third and final round of Negotiated Rulemaking has concluded. Team I Negotiators for Loan Issues reached agreement with the Department of Education on a wide variety of issues including clarification on eligible lender definition, extension of allowable timeframes for guarantors to review disability claims and standardization of the date that borrower’s first payment due dates must be set. New Portal Site Introduced by ED: Effective April 30, 2002, the Federal Student Aid (FSA) - Financial Partners Channel established the "Financial Partners Portal", a new site designed with the help of many representatives from the FFELP community. This portal is a simple-to-use gateway for all FFEL business with Financial Partners and the U.S. Department of Education. OGSLP Toll-free Numbers for Borrowers: As we enter the peak-processing season, OGSLP would like to remind our clients of a variety of toll-free numbers available to students designed to get them directly to staff with expertise in their particular situation. Common Manual Update: The April version of the Integrated Common Manual (ICM) is now available for downloading to your desktop. This version contains the most recent policy changes approved by the Governing Board. Attached is a link to the Common Manual section of our website, where you may download the newest version.
